- ➤ Maine game wardens offer ice safety tips as Mainers gear up for ice fishing and snowmobiling. They advise checking ice continuously (clear blue ice is strongest), carrying ice picks and flotation jackets, and telling someone your plans to stay safe. WABI 5
- ➤ Bangor YMCA was awarded $1 million from the Northern Border Regional Commission Catalyst program for its new building, as announced by senators Angus King and Susan Collins. The funding will support local infrastructure projects and boost community opportunities. FOX Bangor
- ➤ Senators Susan Collins and Angus King announced Maine nominees to the United States Military Academies today. - ➤ Pine Tree Urgent Care will open in about six months at 557 Hammond St in Bangor’s Fairmount neighborhood to provide walk-in care seven days a week. The independent clinic, led by physician assistant David Wade, plans to offer on-site x-rays and medication dispensing — adding an option amid a provider shortage. Bangor Daily News
- ➤ Health officials are expanding HIV outreach & testing in Cumberland County after Maine CDC reported five new cases, while the Penobscot outbreak now totals 31 cases with 27 among the unhoused. - ➤ The University of Maine men's basketball team won its first game of the season by defeating Boston University 69-59. The Black Bears, now 1-11, will return to Orono to face Canisius on Saturday, Dec. 13 at 2 p.m. Bangor Daily News
- ➤ John Bapst boys basketball coach Chris Bryant resigned Tuesday after parent complaints about his intensity during practice, including an incident where he kicked a basketball against the gym wall.
