The USDA declared Maine’s drought a natural disaster — allowing farmers in all 16 counties to apply for federal emergency assistance loans and grants to pay off debt, cover living costs, and replace equipment.
The state program will also fund drilled wells and water storage ponds as the drought is expected to last through winter.
