  • Andy Day is planning to open his candy shop Oh, Grow Up! at 21 Central St.—the renovated downtown space will feature a pick-your-own candy wall with gummies, sours and chocolate and will open early next year.  Bangor Daily News

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • At a meeting in Uzbekistan, nations voted against adding trade restrictions for eels — a move conservation groups said was needed to protect the species. Maine’s baby eels fetched over $1,200 per pound in 2024 after reaching more than $2,000 per pound the previous year.  Bangor Daily News

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • A federal appeals court upheld Maine's right to track federally permitted lobster boats using electronic devices in federal waters, a measure adopted by the Maine Department of Marine Resources to improve fishing management and conservation. A group of lobstermen challenged the rule and one now has 60 days to appeal to the Supreme Court — a decision set to affect both industry practices and environmental protection.  Bangor Daily News
