- ➤ Bangor’s massive holiday tree is being installed today around 8 a.m. and was donated by Dan Sprague of Sprague’s Nursery—It will show a daily light and music display and its lighting event on Nov 28 will kick off the city’s Plaid Friday shopping event. Bangor Daily News
- ➤ The Bangor Region Chamber of Commerce has launched a pasta drive to help local food pantries as food insecurity rises, asking community members and businesses to donate pasta, sauce, or parmesan until December 5. The chamber, serving 21 communities, will coordinate pick-ups for large donations—supporting efforts to feed families in need. WABI 5
- ➤ Today, Hermon-based Neighbors Supporting Neighbors Community Pantry works with Penquis during WABI’s Turkey Telethon to distribute food boxes — including a Thanksgiving meal box — to local residents in need. Director Carol Lackedy said the pantry continues to serve communities from Hermon to Dixmont amid ongoing challenges after COVID and reduced SNAP benefits. WABI 5

- ➤ State regulators approved new standard-offer rates on Wednesday for residential and business customers through Versant Power’s Maine Public District and Central Maine Power. Some Mainers will face higher bills starting Jan. 1, with northern residential customers seeing about a $16 increase and central customers about $11 while medium-sized business rates in central Maine will rise nearly 2 cents per kilowatt-hour—Aroostook businesses may see slight decreases. - ➤ Eastern Maine Community College is running a two-year radiologic technology program at Northern Maine Community College to train more technologists for Aroostook hospitals.
