- ➤ Over 10,000 people attended the Bangor Mall Craft Fair last weekend where more than 300 vendors gathered under the direction of organizer Kathy Harvey to support local artisans. The fair will return next weekend with new vendors, raffle prizes and Santa offering free pictures with kids (Saturday 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.). FOX Bangor

- ➤ Mainely Tacos DOS opened its new home in Bangor on November 9th, offering its signature tacos and expanded seating for local diners. The restaurant relocated from its former site and expects to serve more customers with a refreshed dining experience. WABI 5

- ➤ At UMaine, students and community members celebrated global traditions by sharing food, music, art and fashion from over 30 countries at Culturefest held at the New Balance Student Recreation Center. ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ Maine farmers now can use extra antlerless deer permits from a new state program to help curb growing crop damage from rising deer numbers — the program also will assist with fencing and repellent costs. Growers may distribute these permits to local hunters as a step toward protecting their fields and orchards. Bangor Daily News

- ➤ In Bangor, 1,400 residents are waiting for housing vouchers as rents have soared and prioritized wait times stretch two to four years. 78-year-old Barbara, who has waited nearly three years, said a voucher would reduce her steep rent—giving her more money for essentials. Bangor Daily News
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston will end its trauma center status on Dec. 1 and become a trauma system hospital; only Maine Medical Center in Portland and Northern Light Eastern Maine Medical Center in Bangor will hold trauma center designations after that date. Bangor Daily News
- ➤ Northern Light Health in Brewer supports veterans by partnering with Hire-A-Vet and Boots2Roots to create healthcare career opportunities for veterans ahead of Veterans Day on Nov. 11. Staff are preparing to join four recruitment events, including one on Nov. 13 in Farmington from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.—a step that shows their commitment to veteran employment. The Piscataquis Observer
