  • A child enrichment center in Brewer hosted a winter gear swap for kids on Saturday where families donated and picked up gently used coats and mittens—remaining items will go to another local business for its winter gear drive as the owner said future events are planned.  WABI 5

CULTURE NEWS

  • Milton Bradley (a board game pioneer) was born in Vienna, Maine on Nov. 8. His birthday is remembered as an important milestone in board game history.  WABI 5

SPORTS NEWS

  • The Orono boys soccer team lost 1-0 to Hall-Dale in the Class C championship match on Saturday—Hall-Dale scored the winning goal in the second overtime. Coach David Hamel said the team, which finished 16-1-1, is proud of its strong run and will use the loss to build on its promising future.  Bangor Daily News
  • The Penobscot Valley Howlers won their third straight Class D state championship—defeating Ashland 2 to 0 on Saturday at Hermon High School’s Pottle Field.  Bangor Daily News
  • The UMaine Black Bears won their sixth straight game by defeating Hampton University in Virginia on Saturday, which keeps their playoff hopes alive for a Coastal Athletic Association championship. They will host Rhode Island next Saturday at 1 p.m.  Bangor Daily News
