- ➤ Yesterday the fourth annual 5K for heating oil in Brewer raised funds for the Maine Veterans Project’s program to help heat veterans' homes with a $5,000 goal for 50 veterans — local businesses and participants joined Triumph Cleaning Services in supporting the cause. WABI 5
- ➤ Bill Dodge Auto Group held its final car show this season to raise money for Maine veterans, and a WGAN radiothon last Thursday helped bring in $33,524 for Veterans Forward — a group that assists veterans in need. The funds will support services for those who served. WGAN

- ➤ On Friday night, drones lit up the UMaine campus during homecoming as students, families, and community members watched what is considered the largest drone light show in Maine. Grizzly Entertainment staged another display at Alfond Stadium on Saturday at 5:50 p.m.—adding a vibrant chapter to the homecoming festivities. WABI 5

- ➤ A U.S. Drought Monitor report stated that over 80% of Maine is under severe or extreme drought, with seven counties experiencing extreme conditions and hundreds of wells running dry while farms see reduced yields. State agencies urged residents to conserve water + repair leaks as the Department of Agriculture announced grants for water infrastructure projects to help manage the shortage. News Center Maine
- ➤ Birders in Maine have spotted unusual geese this autumn—including cackling, pink-footed, and barnacle geese seen with common Canada geese. - ➤ UMaine football won its ninth straight Homecoming game with a 35-14 victory over Elon at Morse Field—quarterback Carter Peevy threw two touchdown passes and ran for another.
