  • Canaan Farm hosted its 16th annual Fall Family Day on Oct. 12.  WABI 5
  • Hundreds of participants filled the Bangor waterfront Sunday for the 13th annual Pound the Pavement to End Cancer color walk and run — an event held behind Sea Dog Brewing that saw people doused in colored powder. Founder Chris Parrish said the race, held in honor of Brenda Badger, aimed to raise about 30 thousand for local families affected by cancer.  FOX Bangor

CRIME NEWS

  • Yesterday, Bangor marked the 88th anniversary of a Brady Gang shootout on Central Street that left two gang members dead—FBI agents halted the violent robbery in 1937 while a plaque near Bagel Central and Historical Society events keep the memory alive.  FOX Bangor

CULTURE NEWS

  • On Indigenous Peoples’ Day, a new chart shows the meanings behind Maine landscape names like Mooselookmeguntic, Sebago and Nicatous — giving locals a fun fact to share. The chart explains how names such as Musquash and Katahdin reflect native languages and link to the state’s history — helping preserve Maine’s indigenous heritage.  Bangor Daily News

  • Maine is joining Connecticut in a project to add more solar and wind power to the regional grid before federal tax credits expire—each state will review proposals to ensure the benefits reach electric customers.  Bangor Daily News

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Former Gov. Paul LePage confirmed he is running for Congress in 2026 in Maine’s 2nd district—he said he has raised nearly $1 million so far and plans to seek $5 million to challenge incumbent Jared Golden. LePage argued the rural part of Maine is not getting its fair share—he claimed Golden does not represent the district well.  News Center Maine
  • Thousands of federal workers in Maine received their last paycheck before the shutdown continued and may see reduced income as Senate negotiations will resume Tuesday; labor representatives warned that the prolonged closure could hurt local families and strain banks—adding uncertainty for Mainers.   • More than 70 Maine veterans returned on the final Honor Flight of the year after flying from Washington, D.C. and arrived at Bangor International Airport Sunday, where family, friends, and Senator Susan Collins welcomed them.
