- ➤ A new law took effect on Sept. 24 that requires the Maine Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife to launch a pilot program for electronic deer tagging—Nate Webb said the department will report back to the Legislature by Jan. 14 to update on its progress. Bangor Daily News
- ➤ Applications are open for Maine-based organizations to apply for funding from the Penobscot County Opioid Settlement Fund Grant to support programs fighting the opioid epidemic in Penobscot County — the grant offers up to $400,000 in tiered awards for one-year projects, with a deadline of November 15 and an informational webinar on October 8. - ➤ Orono residents will vote on Nov. 4 for two three‐year council seats as Andrea Hardison seeks reelection—Colleen Marzilli and John Quinn run for their first seats.
