HEALTH NEWS

  • Maine Family Planning and Planned Parenthood of Northern New England received a $6M one-time state funding today but Maine Family Planning warned the boost comes too late as flat funding and low MaineCare reimbursements may force them to end primary care services at their Ellsworth, Houlton and Presque Isle sites by the end of October—though family planning services will continue at all 18 centers.  News Center Maine
  • Northern Light Health said Anthem undermined the mediation process as the two parties face a Tuesday deadline to reach a contract that keeps Northern Light services in Anthem’s network. If no deal is reached, 30,000 Mainers will see their hospitals, primary care and other services leave the insurer’s network—adding pressure on care access.  Bangor Daily News
