GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ The Community Connector in Bangor reduced bus service on several routes today due to a driver shortage—Center Street and Hammond Street routes now run combined and the Capehart route is suspended—and city officials said they will re-implement paid training and host job fairs to recruit more drivers. - ➤ Reese Perkins, a longtime resident who chairs the Planning Board, is running for City Council to boost housing and services for those facing homelessness—bringing over 20 years of local board experience and a home inspection background to the race. - ➤ Maine Gov. Janet Mills is considering a Senate bid to challenge U.S. Sen. Susan Collins in one of next year's largest races. - ➤ The 10th annual Race for Recovery 5K took place on Sunday morning along Bangor Waterfront and Main St.—drawing over 150 participants and setting a record as Wellspring’s biggest fundraiser for substance use disorder treatment—while reducing stigma around recovery in our community. WABI 5
- ➤ Penobscot Community Health Care will move its Mental Health Access Center from the Capehart Community Health Center in Bangor to Brewer Medical Center this fall — it will be renamed the PCHC Behavioral Health Connection effective November 1.
