- ➤ Maine Secretary of State Shenna Bellows rejected a Department of Justice request for voter data and election official names on Aug. 8—she said state law stops her office from sharing sensitive voter information. She called the request a fishing expedition and said her office will challenge it in court if needed. Bangor Daily News
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ Saving Grace Counseling is a new mental health service in Bangor that helps people get the treatment they need by asking for a $20 fee for a 12-week program—one that covers fees if clients cannot pay—and connects them to vital community support. FOX Bangor
SPORTS NEWS
- ➤ The Bangor Rams won 21-0 last Friday with a tough style led by senior quarterback and linebacker Kyle Johnson and showed some special teams struggles. They will play Thornton Academy on Friday night at 7 p.m. in Saco— a team that beat Scarborough 44-0 last week. Bangor Daily News
- ➤ UMaine announced upgrades at Morse Field at Harold Alfond Stadium that include added family activities, improved concessions, expanded alcohol options and revised seating along with new traffic plans for game days; legal-age fans may bring drinks to their seats while alcohol sales end at the third quarter—the home opener is Sept. 13 at 6 p.m. against Stonehill.
