  • A New York man was rescued from a submerged plane after it crashed on Moosehead Lake on September 7—rescue crews reached him and brought him to safety.  WABI 5

  • Federal agents searched four rural Maine properties for illegal marijuana grows in spring using search warrants filed on March 17 at the U.S. District Court in Bangor—only a memory card was seized from one location.  The Piscataquis Observer

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Today, the city of Bangor begins paving on Earle, Fowler, and Lemist Streets and will work on Franklin and Blackstone on Tuesday, Hildreth and adjacent streets on Wednesday, and Bangor Mall Boulevard plus roundabouts near Maine Avenue on Thursday—residents are asked not to park on these streets as the schedule may change with the weather.  WABI 5

SPORTS NEWS

  • Lake Region football beat Ellsworth 50—14 on September 7. Jaiden Meehan led the team with four touchdown runs, 116 rushing yards and a touchdown pass.  Bangor Daily News
  • Fort Kent and Bucksport High Schools will compete in two regular season girls soccer games after facing off in recent championship contests—coaches said the long trips offer tougher competition and better playoff preparation. The new schedule, arranged after Fort Kent joined the Penobscot Valley Conference, sets most road games during the potato harvest break from Sept. 19 to Oct. 6.  Bangor Daily News
