  • Maine State Police are seeking help finding 67-year-old David Beck—who went missing Saturday after he was last seen at his brother’s home in Gardiner and near Sugarloaf Mountain Sunday while driving his 2022 gray Toyota 4Runner.  WABI 5

ECONOMY NEWS

  • Mainers statewide are buying Powerball tickets at a local Corner Store on Hammond Street in Bangor in hope of winning a $1.1 billion jackpot—some say the prize would buy a home in Brooklin and help support family and friends. GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Bill Diamond, a longtime Maine politician known for advocating for children's welfare, died on Aug. 31 at age 80—he had stepped back from daily work on Aug. 25 due to health concerns and was honored for his lifelong service, including his work with Walk a Mile in Their Shoes.  News Center Maine
  • Former Maine CDC Director Dr. Nirav Shah said he considered a run for governor as a democrat when he spoke on Monday in Bangor—he noted that challenges like hunger, health care issues, housing insecurity and high heating costs are driving his decision and would place him among candidates such as Angus King III, Shenna Bellows and Hannah Pingree if he officially enters the race.  WABI 5

HEALTH NEWS

  • Northern Light and Anthem have been in a public contract dispute as a Sept 30 deadline nears with a chance for a last-ditch deal to keep Northern Light providers in-network. Patients with employer or private Anthem plans will face higher costs on Oct 1 if the companies do not reach an agreement — forcing some to switch providers or apply for continuity of care.  Bangor Daily News
