ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ Pilot Luigi Accusani, 74, from Italy died Friday at Bangor International Airport while attempting to land his single-engine Cessna and had crossed the Atlantic in small planes as a North Atlantic navigation expert—reportedly marking the airport’s first civilian fatality. Bangor Daily News

- ➤ Bangor voters will choose nine new City Council candidates in the fall for three open seats, marking the first time in over 10 years with no incumbents on the ballot—each candidate brings unique priorities from housing to public safety—while Election Day is set for Nov. 4. Bangor Daily News
- ➤ New Brunswick Premier Susan Holt condemned U.S. border agents after a Bangor-born Wabanaki elder’s fiancée was detained at Houlton and Calais for carrying too many belongings—she contacted the U.S. Ambassador to Canada to address what she said was discriminatory treatment. The couple now feels unsafe in the U.S. and plans to adjust their home situation by moving to New Brunswick. The County
- ➤ The Maine Supreme Judicial Court said that companies with their own family leave plans will not get refunds for payments made into the new state program—calling the rule legal and not a taking of private property.
