  • A 41-unit housing facility called Theresa’s Place will open next week at the former Pine Tree Inn to help people who lacked stable housing nearly six months after its ribbon cutting. City officials said move-ins will be staggered over the next few weeks—easing the demand on local shelters.  Bangor Daily News

  • Rosie—the 9-year-old English mastiff who went missing during a Glenburn shooting and home invasion—has been reunited with her family; she lost 18 pounds while in the wild but remains in good health.  Bangor Daily News
  • A Bangor man named Anthony Sharp, 34, was arrested on Thursday for allegedly assaulting a woman on the sidewalk outside a downtown business—security footage prompted police to respond shortly before 7 p.m. Monday.  Bangor Daily News
  • A Bangor woman, Jaime Johnson, was arrested on August 11 in Cambridge after police responded to a disturbance and found a fire intentionally set near a home on Ham Hill Road — she faces charges of arson, threatening with a dangerous weapon, assault, and breaking her release rules, with bail set at $25,000 cash.  FOX Bangor

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Acadia National Park saw a near-record 797,030 visitors in July — more than any month in 35 years — as most visitors went to Mount Desert Island and over 81,000 visited Schoodic Peninsula despite staffing challenges.  WABI 5

  • Amanda Savage, a nurse from Bangor, will become the first Mainer to serve on the American Nurses Association Board of Directors—her term lasting two years begins in January next year and she said she will focus on equality, safety, and patient care.  WABI 5
