- ➤ The Penobscot Nation youth canoe team is leaving the Penobscot to race at the United States Canoe Association national championships in Northfield, Massachusetts today. The team has about a dozen members aged 10 to 17 and includes top paddler Koa Neptune-Sanborn who won trophies last year, and they train to honor their heritage and build their skills. CRIME NEWS
- ➤ Bangor police arrested 34-year-old Dirk Weber on Front Street early Wednesday morning after he allegedly punched a dog and its owner when they intervened—he later hit his head while in custody and now faces charges of assault, disorderly conduct, refusal to submit to arrest, and assault on a police officer for reportedly spitting on an officer. - ➤ Old Town Theatre opened in downtown Old Town in May and has drawn crowds with live music, indie movies and trivia nights.
