- ➤ Firefighters from several towns battled a fire on an island in Pushaw Lake that began around midnight Friday, destroying a couple of small buildings and treating one firefighter for minor injuries—teams from Bradford, Glenburn, Old Town, the Maine Forest Service and G&H Ambulance later monitored hot spots and warned boaters to avoid the area due to lingering smoke and unsafe rocky terrain while the cause remains under investigation. - ➤ Bangor Police say Michael McDarby, 54, was arrested on Thursday morning after leading officers on a chase and intentionally ramming a police cruiser near downtown — he now faces multiple charges and was on probation for a previous domestic violence assault. News Center Maine

- ➤ Officials from the University of Maine Cooperative Extension reported that the invasive spotted wing drosophila is attacking blueberries, raspberries and cherries in southern Maine. They advised growers to use a 7-day spray schedule—if fly populations increase, spraying every 5 days may be needed to protect ripening fruit. News Center Maine
