- ➤ The Bangor State Fair starts tomorrow at the Cross Insurance Center with animal shows inside while the midway is set up across Bass Park to offer food trucks, live music and a demolition derby with tickets priced from $10 to $15, seniors for $5 and free admission for children under 5 — a second series of events runs from July 31 to Aug. 2. - ➤ Federal authorities arrested Jameel T. Clark White—a Massachusetts man wanted on multiple charges including robbery and assault—Tuesday night in Bangor after a tip led investigators to his location and drugs were found on him in jail+ he now faces new charges for possessing a machine gun and carrying a firearm on school grounds. - ➤ U.S. Marshals arrested Massachusetts fugitive Jameel Clark-White in Bangor—he was wanted on multiple warrants for drug and firearm charges—and after his vehicle was stopped near a residence, Bangor police charged him with drug possession as he awaits extradition. FOX Bangor

- ➤ Jane Carreiro, dean of Maine’s only medical school, said a new federal loan cap of $200,000 could force students to borrow on the private market—since last year UNE med students borrowed over $300,000—and that ending GradPLUS loans, used by 75 percent of its grad students, may raise barriers to entering the field and serving rural communities. - ➤ Needlepoint Sanctuary, a Bangor nonprofit offering syringe exchange services, moved its program to a new Ohio Street location this week to help address rising HIV cases. - ➤ Orange jewelweed is a native Maine plant that blooms mid-summer through early fall in moist, shady spots. Crushing its leaves and infusing them in apple cider vinegar may help relieve poison ivy rashes—its soap-like compounds block the reaction to urushiol. Bangor Daily News
