- ➤ Hammond Lumber will acquire Ware-Butler Building Supply later this month—adding wood panel and metal roof production to boost its retail footprint to 34 locations across Maine and New Hampshire. All Ware-Butler employees will be offered jobs with Hammond Lumber, and the deal is expected to close by July 31. Bangor Daily News

- ➤ Austin Gardner, 18, allegedly led Bangor police on a chase in a stolen car Monday after taking keys from someone he knew—he fled into the woods before being arrested and now faces charges including robbery, eluding an officer, theft, reckless conduct, failure to stop, driving to endanger, refusing to submit to arrest and operating after suspension. - ➤ Three suspects were arrested in Passadumkeag after a search warrant was served at a Pleasant Street home Tuesday — the sheriff’s office seized fentanyl, carfentanil, methamphetamine, a shotgun, a handgun, ammunition, and over $1,000 in suspected drug proceeds, and the suspects face drug trafficking charges. - ➤ The Attorney General's office filed a motion to try 17-year-old Deven Young as an adult for the killing of 48-year-old Sunshine Stewart at Mic Mac Campground in Union—he is scheduled to appear in court in August where the judge will decide if he faces a life sentence as an adult or could be released when he turns 21 if tried as a juvenile. - ➤ Eastern Maine Development Corporation awarded $1.4 million in grants to 54 small businesses through its Economic Recovery Implementation Hub program as of July 1 — the program also provided technical help, training, and guidance funded by federal and state plans to boost business recovery and growth in the region.
