- ➤ Bath Iron Works started a new Metro BREEZ bus route today to help employees from Portland, Yarmouth, Freeport, Brunswick and Bath avoid traffic and parking problems near the shipyard. - ➤ Rising rents and a shortage of year-round rentals have forced lobster crews in Stonington to overcrowd housing and sometimes fish alone—a change that risks both safety and the town’s working waterfront. - ➤ Governor Mills signed a law that will make schools safer for students with epilepsy by requiring schools to request seizure action plans from the Maine Department of Education — the law takes effect this fall. - ➤ School bus drivers statewide will attend the MAPT’s 52nd annual safety conference over the next few days to complete the 16 training hours required by the Maine Department of Education—focusing on safe driving in bad weather, first aid, substance abuse awareness and student behavior management.
