ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ A Bangor motorcyclist was critically injured Saturday evening around 7:05 p.m. on an I-95 on-ramp in Fairfield when he hit a guardrail—public safety officials said speed likely contributed and noted he was not wearing a helmet. News Center Maine
- ➤ On Sunday, a motorcycle and SUV crashed on Route 9 in Eddington just after 5:30 p.m.—the motorcycle’s driver, a 49-year-old man from New York, suffered minor injuries while his 17-year-old daughter sustained serious injuries and the SUV’s occupant was unharmed. WABI 5
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Modivcare, Penquis, and Waldo Community Action Partners continue to provide non-emergency rides for MaineCare from July 1 to June 30 as the state delayed awarding a full statewide contract to Modivcare while an appeal moves to the state Supreme Court. Riders have reported missed trips and late pickups—concerns that add to the dispute over service quality. News Center Maine
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ The CDC reported a drop in nationwide overdose deaths in 2024, yet Penobscot County recorded 21% of Maine's fatal overdoses in May despite making up only 11% of the state's residents—most victims were males over 35.
