- ➤ Today, a Maine-based tofu maker is doubling its production space in Rockport from about 2,800 to nearly 6,000 square feet; the expansion will allow the company to hire more workers and install advanced processing equipment—along with a solar array—to boost output by 50 percent by early next year. - ➤ Carollynn Lear—Bangor’s new city manager—said her main goals are to fill empty positions and address housing and homelessness while she prepares for federal changes and works with city officials. REAL ESTATE NEWS
- ➤ Bangor’s first tiny home park opened in November at 1337 Hammond St. after city officials approved the project in February, and it now features 30 compact, 320-square-foot homes with full amenities and a $1,300 monthly rent—residents like Denise LaGasse and Maggie Lusk-Johnson say they appreciate the safe, quiet space that meets local housing needs. - ➤ Westbrook native Carter Amico was drafted by the Philadelphia Flyers in the second round of the NHL Draft on Saturday night. The 6-foot-6 defenseman—who played with the U.S. National Team Development Program—will join Boston University as a freshman this fall. WABI 5
- ➤ Fort Kent native Kelsy Stromski is training to join a group of a dozen riders in the upcoming Mongol Derby— the world’s longest horse race spanning 600 miles.
