- ➤ Despite the rain on Saturday, locals joined the Bangor Pride parade that started at 11 a.m. at Main and Union, moved downtown across the Kenduskeag Stream, and ended on Exchange. Organizers said about 50 groups celebrated Generations of Pride—fueling a day of fun that also featured a Rainbow Fun Fest with games and food and a drag show at 7 p.m. at Hollywood Casino Hotel. ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ A person was rescued from the Penobscot River Friday evening after Hampden Fire was dispatched just after 6 p.m.—officials said the crews traveled about five miles south on the river — and the individual was taken to a hospital with their condition remaining unknown. WABI 5
CRIME NEWS
- ➤ Alvin Dorsey, 39, from Massachusetts was sentenced to 18 months in prison with three years of supervised release after pleading guilty to trafficking fentanyl into Maine—authorities said the case was linked to an undercover operation involving an informant in Biddeford. WGAN
- ➤ A Waterville man named Benjamin Brown pleaded guilty Friday in U.S. District Court in Bangor for posting threats on YouTube on Feb. 8 where he said no one could stop him from killing undocumented immigrants—law enforcement included. Bangor Daily News
- ➤ Benjamin Brown, 47, pleaded guilty Friday in U.S. District Court in Bangor for making online threats on YouTube in February 2024 to kill undocumented immigrants, with federal agents warning him about his comments and he now faces up to five years in prison plus a fine of up to $250,000 and three years of supervised release. - ➤ Carter Amico, an 18-year-old defenseman from Westbrook, was selected Saturday by the Philadelphia Flyers as the No. 38 pick in the second round of the NHL draft. He said his physical strength is his biggest asset after recovering from a broken kneecap (which limited him to 13 games last season) and he plans to return to the ice next week while joining Boston University next year.
