  • On Saturday, Mike Laliberte completed his annual challenge by flipping a 400-lb tire for one mile in just under 3.5 hours to raise money for Maine Veterans Project — a challenge he has taken on for 11 years and plans to improve next year.  FOX Bangor

ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • The sheriff’s office said first responders reached South Patten Road at about 9:30 a.m. Saturday when a GMC truck made a U-turn from a scenic turnout and collided with an oncoming Dodge truck—killing the 82-year-old GMC driver, injuring a child, and sending two adults plus three children from the Dodge to a nearby hospital while investigators continue to piece together the crash.  FOX Bangor

SPORTS NEWS

  • Saint Dominic Academy’s baseball team won its fourth consecutive Class D state championship and eighth overall title on Saturday at the University of Maine’s Mahaney Diamond by defeating Bangor Christian 14-6—after the school closed permanently due to financial concerns from the Diocese of Portland.  Bangor Daily News
  • Medomak Valley High won the state softball final with a score of 1 to 0 over Hermon when sophomore pitcher Sidney Nicholls struck out 12 batters and held Hermon hitless in key moments—earning the Panthers their first Class B title since 1995 at the Labat Softball Complex in Orono.  Bangor Daily News
