ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • Bangor Police reported that a motorcyclist died when his bike collided with a tractor trailer at the intersection of Broadway and Burleigh Road Friday afternoon around 4 p.m., and the road was closed for several hours for accident reconstruction.  WABI 5

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • MaineDOT officials announced Friday that the I-395/Route 9 Connector will open with a ribbon cutting ceremony next Friday—June 27, and traffic will start on the weekend of June 28. The $107 million project creates a direct 6-mile link to ease congestion and features five bridges, two snowmobile crossings and several wildlife and stream crossings.  FOX Bangor
  • The Maine Army National Guard renamed the Woodville Training Area—now the PFC Charles Lola and PFC Samuel J. Dana Training Area—to honor two Passamaquoddy soldiers who fought bravely in 1918 on the Western Front. Local residents said the new name keeps the heroes' memory alive and teaches soldiers about their proud past.  News Center Maine

  • Senior center fielder Kyle Kenny hit a three-run inside the park home run in a Class B North regional championship game Tuesday night — giving Ellsworth an 8-5 lead.
