- ➤ On Friday, June 13, the Bangor Lodge of Elks #244 helped deliver $4,000 worth of food to Levant Food Pantry through the Elks National Foundation's Gratitude Grant—partnered with Hannaford. The lodge had previously delivered $2,000 worth of food to Brick Church—while Samaritan Inc runs daily food drives for eight local pantries. FOX Bangor
- ➤ Hundreds gathered at Bangor Waterfront Park on June 14th to join the national No Kings Day of Action protests organized by Indivisible—organizers estimated about 1,000 protesters attended while local leaders including Maine Attorney General Aaron Frey and Maine Veterans for Peace president Adam Toothaker spoke on issues like Medicare, Medicaid, and social services. - ➤ Team Mimi’s 13th Annual Softball Tournament was held Saturday at Union Street’s Recreation Area in Bangor starting at 8 a.m. to raise money for Northern Light Health’s Champion the Cure Challenge—founder Tommy Hosmer said the event honors his late grandmother and marks a milestone with over $100,000 raised since its start. - ➤ Maine lawmakers advanced part-two of the biennial budget bill during an overnight session—setting funding priorities for health care, child welfare, general assistance, housing and other critical programs. - ➤ The Bangor Rams came back to win 7-3 over the Messalonskee Eagles on Saturday, with Lucas Rutherford and Kyle Johnson playing key roles in a game marked by solid pitching and timely hitting. - ➤ Emma Tripp pitched seven shutout innings on Saturday as Bangor beat Camden Hills 1-0, sending the Rams to Tuesday’s regional championship game.
