- ➤ Penquis C.A.P. will join NeighborWorks Week from June 7—14 to celebrate its work in supporting affordable housing in Maine communities. The nonprofit uses strategic funding and partnerships to boost homeownership and preserve rental homes for thousands of Mainers. The Piscataquis Observer
- ➤ Bangor Housing reopened its splash pad today after repairing broken pipes so residents can cool off as local pools remain closed — the facility is open from 8 a.m. until dusk and will host a block party on June 26th from 11—2 with games, food, and music. WABI 5
- ➤ Over 300 Red Knights—firefighters, former firefighters and their families—are riding in the 2025 Yankee Rally for the first time in Maine to raise funds for five charities, including Make a Wish Maine and Ronald McDonald House; the weeklong event has rides, auctions and raffles across the state. CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ A new documentary titled InhuMAINE by local filmmaker Rogan O’Donnell shows how Bangor’s homelessness has grown since the pandemic and will premiere today at a film festival in Portland—78 minutes of raw interviews with homeless individuals, service providers, and public officials highlight challenges like an HIV outbreak and the closure of the city’s largest encampment. - ➤ Sen. Collins questioned Commerce Secretary Lutnick in Washington about Canadian tariffs and proposed rules that threatened Maine's lobster industry — the Commerce department said it will protect the industry with new science standards and USMCA trade rules. WABI 5
- ➤ State lawmakers are pushing for new legislation to protect Maine's mobile home parks amid rising housing costs. The bill—which builds on a law giving residents first refusal when parks are sold—received strong bipartisan support in the Senate and now goes to the House. FOX Bangor

- ➤ A new UMaine study compared over 7,000 medical queries and found that AI gives clear, factual diagnoses—though it does not show the compassion that human doctors provide. Dr. C.
