ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ Rescuers continue searching for 28-year-old Esther Keiderling on Katahdin’s Tablelands after her father, Tim Keiderling from Ulster Park, was found dead Tuesday — nearly 30 game wardens, four dog teams, park rangers, and Maine Army National Guard crews using helicopters have combed the area since Wednesday while trails remain closed. - ➤ True North Theatre will stage Life Sucks, a play that shows how life can be hard, at the Cyrus Pavilion at the University of Maine on Friday and Saturday at 7 p.m. and on Sunday at 2 p.m. The production mixes dark humor & features adult language, sound effects & themes of suicide. - ➤ The Maine Bureau of Highway Safety has planned a free Rule the Road event for 15 to 18-year-olds at Saint Mary’s Church on Ohio Street this Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. The event uses driving simulations — from a mock traffic stop to a golf cart ride with impairment goggles — to help young drivers practice and improve their skills. - ➤ Wildfires in Canada lowered air quality on Wednesday for sensitive groups in Maine as the state warned that rising particle pollution and ozone levels may worsen breathing problems. - ➤ Senator Susan Collins announced Wednesday that federal funds for the Maine AgrAbility program have been restored to aid loggers, fishermen and farmers. The program—run by the University of Maine Cooperative Extension—has already helped about 1,600 workers and will resume training and technical support to reduce injuries in high-risk jobs.
