- ➤ Melinda Lamb and her younger sister Sierra moved into a renovated three-bedroom unit on Smith Street Avenue on May 1 after four years of homelessness; the home was fixed up by nonprofit Design Wall Housing to give them a fresh start. The nonprofit spent nearly two years rebuilding the vacant house with community funds and volunteer help and will complete a second apartment early June — adding more affordable housing soon. - ➤ On Sunday, motorcyclists of the Low XII Riders Maine Chapter rode from Central Maine Harley Davidson in Hermon to Dover and back—honoring Shriner Marvin Tarbox who died in a parade in 2011 and inspiring a scholarship fund in his name. WABI 5
CRIME NEWS
- ➤ Alton Whitney, 44, was arrested on Pleasant Street in Passadumkeag just before 6 p.m. on Saturday for two counts of unlawful trafficking after a traffic stop revealed methamphetamine, crack cocaine, and drug paraphernalia—the Penobscot County Sheriff’s Office said the investigation is ongoing. - ➤ Alton Whitney, 44, was arrested on Saturday in Passadumkeag after a traffic stop on Pleasant Street led deputies to find over 100 gross grams of methamphetamine and 25.5 gross grams of crack cocaine—he was charged with two counts of unlawful trafficking and his bail was set at $35,000. - ➤ Runners braved rain at the Great Bangor Marathon and Half on Sunday as 277 athletes from 33 states and Canada took part in both the marathon and half races. Thirty-year-old Danny White won the men's marathon in 2:44:30 while thirty-seven-year-old Flori Davis finished the women's race in 3:10:56—improved course signage helped keep runners on track.
