HEALTH NEWS

  • Maine's state-run sludge program was promoted as a free fertilizer in the 1980s (despite early warnings about toxins) and later led to PFAS contamination on farms and residences. Officials banned sludge spreading in 2022 after tests revealed unsafe chemical levels.  Bangor Daily News
