- ➤ Bangor Sandwich Company will open next week in a new store at 1 Central St. just steps from its current location, expanding its kitchen and menu with nine new items while keeping the same hours from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Saturday. Bangor Daily News
- ➤ Boot Barn is set to open in Bangor at the former JoAnn Fabrics and Crafts on Stillwater — joining Maine locations in Augusta and South Portland. The retailer is yet to confirm the opening date. WABI 5
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ The Maine Trappers Association announced the Maine Game Warden Pilot Joshua Tibbetts Scholarship on May 12 in Avon to support students in conservation, wildlife or public service and honor the late warden killed in a plane crash. The nonprofit MTA Outdoor Learning Foundation oversees the fund with Tibbetts’ sister. Bangor Daily News

- ➤ Governor Mills holds a ceremonial bill signing today in Westbrook to enact a statewide ban on cell phones in schools from her supplemental budget - an effort aimed at reducing classroom distractions. Several districts have already adopted similar bans. WABI 5
