- ➤ Bangor Beautiful has started a project on the fence in front of Maine Savings Amphitheater where a 760-foot mural series will be completed in three stages — the project will add native plants and solar lights and is seeking more sponsors to support local art. WABI 5

- ➤ The Maine House defeated a measure Tuesday to study expanding passenger rail from Portland to Orono (via Auburn, Lewiston, Waterville and Bangor) as lawmakers cited high costs and opted for improved bus service instead. Supporters warned that federal funding may soon be unavailable and pointed to record ridership on Amtrak’s Downeaster. Bangor Daily News
