- ➤ The Widows Sons Low XII chapter will host a fundraising ride on Sunday, June 1 at 10 a.m.—bikers will ride in honor of Marvin Tarbox who died in 2011 during a local parade. All proceeds will go to Bangor charities as the group reported raising over $200,000 last year for the Bangor Homeless Shelter and food pantries. FOX Bangor

- ➤ Two horses died Tuesday afternoon in Eddington when a truck hauling them hit a tree — which forced the trailer to detach — and one horse died instantly while the other was euthanized as the driver was taken to the hospital with minor injuries. Bangor Daily News

- ➤ Andrea Annis, 35, is accused of starting a fire that burned her Rockport home on Tuesday afternoon — she faces charges of arson, refusing to submit to arrest, burning prohibited material and burning without a permit, escaped the blaze on her own, was taken to the hospital for evaluation and will be transferred to Knox County Jail in Rockland after her release. - ➤ On Monday night, Bangor police stopped Thomas Pope, 48, near the intersection of Hammond and Union when drugs were found in the vehicle—video showed him removing a bag of drugs and tossing it from his pants despite his denial—and he now faces charges of aggravated drug trafficking and of violating his release conditions. - ➤ BREWER — Officials said the multi-million dollar Route 9 Connector, in planning for over twenty years and under construction for three years, will open mid-July to cut travel time by about 10 minutes for truckers and local commuters on a new six-mile road with 12-foot lanes and 8-foot shoulders.
