  • The 33rd annual Pan New England Steel Band Festival took place Sunday along Bangor’s waterfront, where Caribbean steel pan music filled the rainy air. More than 12 bands and hundreds of spectators enjoyed instruments crafted from oil barrels + the vibrant community heritage.  News Center Maine

ECONOMY NEWS

  • AAA reported that the US average gas price hit $4.45 per gallon on Saturday, May 3, driven by supply challenges from the war in Iran (up 34¢ from the previous week). Bangor motorists should brace for further national price increases.  WABI 5

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Several school districts submitted a funding application last fall for an integrated school serving grades 9 to 16 that merges academic, career, and college courses.
