EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ UMaine senior biomedical engineering students are developing a device that tells runners when to replace their shoes to help prevent injuries such as stress fractures & shin splints. The indicator collects data on shoe wear and force changes to guide timely replacement and balance cost and health. Bangor Daily News
- ➤ On Saturday, 27 outstanding technical students were honored at Eastern Maine Community College in Bangor when local businesses sponsored over $40,000 in scholarships and MACTE officials praised their work + highlighted them as the future skilled workforce. FOX Bangor
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ US Rep Jared Golden has proposed a bill that would delay right whale protection rules from 2028 to 2035; Maine fishermen & the Department of Marine Resources say the extra time will allow needed research and safe gear testing, though conservationists worry for the endangered whales.
