CRIME NEWS
- ➤ A Holden man—accused of domestic violence assault, tampering with a victim, criminal threatening and assault—was indicted by a Penobscot County Grand Jury after he fled a Pittston home when officers tried to arrest him in February. WABI 5

- ➤ Bangor Community Theatre will present 'The Second Honeymoon' over two weekends starting tomorrow to honor Carol Burnett with Paul Collins and Carolina Vargas portraying her work at 92—tickets cost $15 at the door. The play runs on May 2, 3, 4, 9, 10, and 11. WABI 5
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ UMaine alumni David and Nancy Hunt pledged $1 million on Wednesday to support renovations at Harold Alfond Arena — awarding the couple naming rights for the main entrance — as part of a $50 million upgrade. The project is set to finish by the end of 2025 and will add improved locker rooms, training and concession areas, and a covered patio. Bangor Daily News

- ➤ Work installing suicide barriers began this week along the Penobscot Narrows Bridge after delays followed the bill's approval in 2023—Sen. Chip Curry said wind study requirements postponed the project—and similar barriers in Augusta have kept a bridge free of suicide attempts. WABI 5
- ➤ Bangor International Airport is closing its runway for 55 hours at a time as part of a renovation project. A shutdown ended Wednesday afternoon and further closures will run every week from Monday at 8 a.m. until Wednesday at 3 p.m. (except Memorial Day week) until June 18. WABI 5

- ➤ A case of whooping cough was confirmed at a Hermon school this week, and school officials urged families to update booster shots as infections rise nationwide—CDC data show over 10,000 cases yearly with a sixfold jump from last year.
