- ➤ Michael Shepherd will become the politics and investigations editor at the BDN and Callie Ferguson will be promoted to deputy investigations editor, overseeing the Maine Focus team. Their new roles will start on May 5 — while Erin Rhoda will leave on May 2. Bangor Daily News
- ➤ Veterans on Bangor's first Honor Flight returned home on Sunday after spending the weekend in Washington D.C. seeing memorials built to honor their service, and they were greeted by Governor Mills, family, and local supporters — a milestone for Honor Flight Maine which has transported over 1,300 veterans since 2014. - ➤ On Sunday, April 27, Best Buddies hosted its 3rd annual Friendship Walk at Cameron Stadium in Bangor. The event raised funds to support new state chapters and celebrated the graduation of seven ambassadors from Waterville and Bangor — a sign of the program’s growing local impact. FOX Bangor
- ➤ On Saturday, the 23rd Annual Bangor Walk for Autism took place at Waterfront Park in rainy conditions as over 400 participants, many dressed in Star Wars costumes, walked a mile to support the Autism Society of Maine. - ➤ On Friday, the Coast Guard responded to a distress call from the fishing vessel 25 to Life off Nahant when a snapped rope struck two crew members, leaving one man dead and the injured man taken to a hospital. Bangor Daily News

- ➤ Between 2014 and 2024, Maine’s average electricity price rose from 12.65 cents/kWh to 19.62 cents/kWh—a 55% increase that ranked as the third fastest rate in the country after California and Massachusetts, with experts citing higher natural gas costs, a generous solar incentive program, and rising storm recovery expenses as key factors. - ➤ State Representative Laurel Libby remains under censure after a Boston federal appeals court denied her emergency appeal to lift the penalty imposed by House Speaker Ryan Fecteau. A three-judge panel said she failed to prove that her case was likely to succeed (her legal team did not show that she would suffer irreparable harm), leaving the censure in place. WGAN

- ➤ Cooper Flagg is training in Los Angeles with his team as he prepares for the eight-day NBA draft combine starting May 11, where he will work on his strength and defense—his coach said he is focused on improving without assuming his top pick status.
