- ➤ The Maine Snowmobile Association hosted its annual banquet on Saturday at Jeff’s Catering in Brewer after a strong season. The event honored nine inductees, including Eastern Region Vice President Eileen Lafland, into its Hall of Fame. WABI 5
- ➤ Volunteers worked on a spring cleanup in downtown and along the waterfront on Saturday morning – using rakes, trash bags, and paint to tidy parks and public spaces. The Downtown Bangor Partnership organized the event to prepare for Adopt-A-Garden Big Dig Week starting May 16. WABI 5
- ➤ A Bangor woman has launched a seedling library outside her home on Sixth St — offering live plants and vegetable seedlings for free to connect local gardeners. The project began last year as therapy and now draws visitors who exchange tips and tokens of appreciation. Bangor Daily News
- ➤ Ledgewood Gardens and Greenhouses opened on Saturday in Orrington for its 37th season — offering gardening supplies, fresh blooms, and a new addition that prepares customers for spring after a harsh winter. FOX Bangor
ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ A local land trust bought a once-secret trout fishing spot and built parking lots and hiking trails (with maps and signage) that have drawn more anglers, wearing down the banks and leaving plastic worm containers. The trust pledged to conserve land, water and wildlife habitat despite the increased visitor impact. Bangor Daily News
