  • The Autism Society of Maine will host its 23rd annual Walk for Autism this Sunday at 12:00 p.m. on Bangor Waterfront with roughly 400 registered participants despite forecast rain. The one-mile event will feature vendors, food trucks and face painting—plus a Star Wars theme inviting costume wear.  WABI 5
  • Bangor Fire Department said that Lieutenant William 'Billy' VanPeursem died Wednesday evening after taking his own life—he had served since 1989 and his loss underlines the need for support resources for his fellow firefighters.  WABI 5

CULTURE NEWS

  • David Letterman joined the final season of The Nite Show as host Dan Cashman celebrated the end of Bangor’s only locally produced late-night talk show—Cashman, a longtime fan who revived the show in 2001, said Letterman added a fitting highlight to his final season. The show ended last year as Cashman stepped back to focus on his busy schedule and family life.  Bangor Daily News

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Bangor was named one of the best cities for air quality by the American Lung Association in its 2025 State of the Air report released Wednesday — marking the fourth year in a row it earned that spot. The report shows Bangor is the only continental city meeting all three pollution measures — a finding that contrasts with rising unhealthy air levels elsewhere.  Bangor Daily News
