- ➤ A New York man, Basilio Liranzo, received a 16-year prison sentence for the 2017 slaying of Wayne Foss in Whitneyville. He pleaded guilty to arson and murder (with a robbery charge dismissed as part of his plea deal) on Thursday. Bangor Daily News

- ➤ Warmer temperatures are increasing tick activity in Maine as the University of Maine Tick Lab warns that risk of tick-borne illnesses is rising.
