HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ A new analysis by the Maine Hospital Association shows Maine hospitals rank as the fifth poorest nationally and the second-most in debt. The report warns that high operating costs and capped MaineCare payments—combined with expenses from aging facilities—could force closures or service cuts if no changes are made. Bangor Daily News
- ➤ Cori Cantrell from Exeter relies on MaineCare for her family’s health needs, but the program’s future is uncertain after lawmakers passed a budget that patched a $118 million shortfall without enough votes, delaying payments until June.
