  • Sixteen-year-old Jackson Boutilier of Monticello launched his business, Jackson’s Hustle and Muscle, to take on odd jobs like stacking wood and cleaning ovens after his family experienced homelessness; he is working to save for driver’s education and new tools as local requests for help keep increasing.  Bangor Daily News
  • Local organizers held a hike for the homeless on Apr. 4 in Bangor. Neighbors joined the event to rally support and raise awareness about homelessness.  WABI 5

EDUCATION NEWS

  • The University of Maine hosted a send-off rally Saturday in Orono as its cheer & dance teams prepared for a national competition in Daytona. Black Bear fans boosted team spirit ahead of the event.  WABI 5
  • SAD 46 officials in Dexter are developing the 2026-27 school budget, meeting Wednesdays in April to draft the plan for upcoming board and referendum votes. They also approved a new school calendar with adjusted dates for teacher workshops, holiday break and the start of classes.  The Piscataquis Observer
