  • After a snowy Saturday morning that cleared later in many areas, today the Bangor region faces wet conditions as snow turns to sleet and freezing rain under a Winter Weather Advisory. Residents should expect icy roads into Monday morning—use extra caution during the commute.  WABI 5

SPORTS NEWS

  • Ten former UMaine players showed their football skills at a Pro Day in Orono on March 28 — running tests like the bench press, vertical jump and 40-yard dash as NFL scouts from the New England Patriots and Baltimore Ravens watched them in hopes of earning a pick for the upcoming NFL draft.  Bangor Daily News
  • Special Olympics Maine held its annual Central Maine Basketball Tournament Saturday at the University of Maine Memorial Gym, where over 200 athletes competed in five-on-five and unified divisions—featuring a rookie unified cheerleading team coached by Bennett Meister. Volunteers from UMaine Women’s Basketball and local groups helped support the tournament—strengthening community ties.  WABI 5
  • Cooper Flagg, a Duke freshman, won ACC player and rookie awards and earned the Oscar Robertson Trophy and Wayman Tisdale Award after scoring 30 points in a Sweet 16 win over Arizona. He said he cares more about team wins than personal awards—Duke will play Alabama Saturday night in Newark to try to reach the Final Four.  Bangor Daily News
