- ➤ Local therapy dog Koda is a 14-year-old rescue now competing in a national Pet Partners contest for Pet of the Year. His owner and handler Stacey Coventry, who has volunteered in schools, colleges, and hospitals, says Koda could represent Maine—voting and fundraising will continue until April 14th. FOX Bangor

- ➤ Penobscot Theatre Company is performing Matinicus: A Lighthouse Play — a one-woman show with West Coast actor Katie Peabody portraying Abigail Burgess — at the Bangor Opera House through April 6. The show tells the 1856 story of a Maine teenager who kept lighthouse lamps burning during a storm and uses strong set design to recreate her world. Bangor Daily News

- ➤ The 2024-25 school year has seen big wins in Maine sports as Newport’s Cooper Flagg, a freshman at Duke who earned top national awards—making him one of only four players to win both the National Player of the Year and Freshman of the Year trophies—and UMaine’s hockey team won its first Hockey East Tournament title since 2004.
