  • A family-run business in Bangor uses an honor system for baked-goods sales while planning to build four tiny homes on its 27-acre property to support adults with cognitive disabilities and youth transitioning out of foster care; they expect to start building these homes this summer (pending department approvals).  News Center Maine
  • BangorHousing will build 60 supportive housing apartments for homeless residents with state funding from its Home for Good partnership, planning to start construction by summer’s end with 30 units on Corporate Drive and a nearby site for the rest — occupancy is expected in late 2027 or early 2028.  WABI 5
  • Vietnam veterans Charles Russell and Skip met at Governor’s Restaurant in Bangor after 58 years apart to reconnect and share memories from their service on PBR units during the war — a reunion arranged through a Facebook group. BUSINESS NEWS

  • Construction has begun on a $17.5 million Amazon-backed warehouse in Hermon at the former drive-in theater site, with work starting on March 20 and set to finish by March 1. Officials have not confirmed job numbers or the facility's opening details.  Bangor Daily News

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • A Penobscot Valley Audubon boat trip left Stonington Harbor calm this morning — attendees counted over 200 harlequin ducks and many seabirds despite an earlier storm forecast. Maine Audubon will host Phenomenal Spring 2026: Seasonal Stories from Your Wildlife Community on April 1 at Bangor Public Library and online.  Bangor Daily News
  • The Maine Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife finished developing the 2025-2035 Maine Wildlife Action Plan to offer voluntary, nonregulatory strategies for protecting vulnerable species. GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Governor Mills announced $43 million in funding through the New England Heat Pump Accelerator to install an extra 30,000 heat pump water heaters across Maine. Eligible households can receive $1,000+ rebates via the Efficiency Maine website, which may reduce energy bills by hundreds of dollars.  WABI 5
