- ➤ Fidium, Maine’s top internet provider per CNET, will deliver multi-gig, symmetrical fiber internet to communities from Bath—Yarmouth and will add service to more than 100,000 homes and businesses by year’s end. - ➤ Heidi Tasker, 36, is charged with murder after she stabbed her boyfriend in their Etna home last week when she said spirits told her to act — his mother told police Tasker had stopped taking her prescriptions. WABI 5

- ➤ Jonathan Berry, artistic director of Penobscot Theatre Company from Bangor, announced he will step down in July after serving three years and building a more diverse lineup (he plans to freelance and teach after returning to Chicago). The board will soon start its search for a new director while Berry directs the East Coast premiere of Lauren Yee’s comedy Mother Russia in May. Bangor Daily News

- ➤ A 27-year-old man who claims asylum filed a petition in federal court in Bangor and asked for immediate release and a ban on future detention after Border Patrol held him since last week. He was arrested as a passenger in a speeding car in Kennebec County—he is from Ecuador and now lives in Framingham, and his affirmative asylum application is with USCIS. WGAN
- ➤ Sen. Susan Collin announced Tuesday that nearly $500,000 in funding was awarded to public housing agencies in Presque Isle and Bangor—just under $250,000 went to the Presque Isle Housing Authority and the remainder to the Bangor Housing Authority. WABI 5

- ➤ MaineHealth’s Bright Bodies program received a $200K donation from Hannaford Supermarkets—adding funds to expand healthy lifestyle classes for children in Greater Norway—and the program will roll out virtually within the next year. News Center Maine
- ➤ A recent House GOP budget bill proposes deep Medicaid cuts that will force rural hospitals—like Houlton Regional Hospital—to cover extra costs without enough federal funding. - ➤ MaineGeneral Medical Center is planning to lay off about 100 employees next month after state cuts to MaineCare reimbursements cost it $600,000 a week since March 12—worsening an already tight budget.
