- ➤ Gifford’s Ice Cream, a Maine-based family business, is opening its Bangor stand today at 12 p.m.–8:30 p.m. while its Waterville and Skowhegan locations will open on Mar. 20 and Apr. 3, offering new flavors. WABI 5
- ➤ MTF Subs, the operator of 15 local Subway shops, filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy and now faces uncertainty over its 43 franchises. The filing affects most Maine locations — Bucksport and Lisbon Falls aside — and follows heavy debt from high-interest loans and back rent. Bangor Daily News
- ➤ Arby's is set to return to Bangor at 57 Bangor Mall Blvd (where it operated from 1983 to 2015). The planning board approved renovations including driveway closure, curb modifications, and a new drive-thru, with construction to begin once the state issues a traffic permit. Bangor Daily News

- ➤ The Pussycat Dolls will perform this summer at the Bangor waterfront at Maine Savings Amphitheater on July 10 at 6:30 p.m.—celebrating the 20th anniversary of their debut album—and ticket sales will start at 10 a.m. on March 20. Bangor Daily News

- ➤ Today, hundreds of Maine students are competing in the SkillsUSA Maine event in Bangor as 1,400 students from nearly 30 career and technical schools showcase their skills in over 100 categories + including middle and high school rounds. - ➤ Bangor City Council approved more than $640,000 in opioid settlement funds to 16 local groups this week to support substance use recovery, treatment, and prevention efforts. The funds include a $48,000 award to Mansion Church which will launch a faith-based program to help recently incarcerated men. News Center Maine

- ➤ UMaine women will face top-seeded Vermont at 5:00 p.m. Friday at Patrick Gymnasium in Burlington to earn an NCAA tournament bid; the Black Bears are seeking only their second win over a top seed since 1998. Bangor Daily News
- ➤ Jaycie Christopher of USM has led the Huskies to a Little East Conference championship and an NCAA Division III tournament run.
