- ➤ The Bridge the Gap race will take place on Saturday, April 18 at 10 a.m., letting runners cross the Penobscot Narrows Bridge to complete a 10-mile loop or a 3-mile sprint ending in downtown Bucksport (the event revives local fundraising and supports new programs). Bangor Daily News

- ➤ Bangor Symphony Orchestra will host its 18th annual Symphony Soirée’s 'An Evening of Enchantment' on Saturday, Mar. 14 at the Cross Insurance Center. The fundraiser begins at 6 p.m. with music starting at 7 p.m. (tickets: $85 single, $165 couples) to benefit its education programs. WABI 5
- ➤ At the Early Bird Breakfast Wednesday morning, Steve Lyons, director of the Maine Film Office, told local business owners that film productions boost Bangor’s economy. The chamber will not meet next month because of its awards banquet. WABI 5
- ➤ A federal antitrust settlement with Live Nation will not force a sale — nor change this year’s concerts at the Maine Savings Amphitheater in Bangor. Waterfront Concerts said the settlement only requires a new ticketing contract, so the venue’s ownership and operations stay as they are. Bangor Daily News

- ➤ UMaine is cutting its operating budget by $5.6M and planning fewer than 10 staff layoffs in the next fiscal year as it addresses an $18M shortfall and deferred maintenance costs from reduced federal research funding, with details on affected positions to be shared after employees are contacted. - ➤ Downeast Ob/Gyn will close this summer due to a doctor shortage. Patients will soon get a written notice and can visit Northern Light Eastern Maine Medical Center, where the OB/Gyn doctors will join the hospital’s women’s health team to ensure care. FOX Bangor
