- ➤ Heating oil prices in Maine topped $4 a gallon this week+ nearly $1 more than last week, driven by global supply worries from Iran tensions that affect more than half of households; experts advise residents to order soon as warmer weather may ease demand although prices might continue to rise. GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ The Maine Department of Inland Fisheries & Wildlife has set the 2026 moose permit numbers, including 400 antlered and 250 antlerless permits in District 4 after ending the adaptive hunt unit. Applications run from April 1 to May 15 and the drawing is scheduled for June 20 at Acton Fairgrounds. Bangor Daily News
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ MaineHealth is offering a free six-week CNA training program to prepare new caregivers for rural health facilities, paying $18 an hour during training. The course is open to Maine residents 16+ and links graduates with immediate employment in local communities such as Damariscotta. News Center Maine
- ➤ Recruiters from The Rehab Specialist are offering Bangor residents free flights to attend a 90-day addiction treatment program in California (complete with luxury amenities), and local recovery centers and Bangor police have raised concerns over the tactic. - ➤ Anthem Blue Cross and Covenant Health reached a multi-year contract that lets Anthem members remain in-network at Covenant facilities — including St. Joseph Hospital, Primary and Specialty Care, and community services.
